Homestead, Fla. - Silver Vase proudly introduces Blue Mystique, the world's first blue orchid. Exclusive patented technology makes this new introduction truly distinctive.
"We're pleased to give a first look at the hottest new variety the orchid world has seen in years," said Silver Vase CEO Andrew Bartha. "Blue Mystique is truly the most unique orchid on the market."
Exceptional in any setting, Blue Mystique adds flair to home and office alike. Its long-lasting, lovely blooms shine electric blue on a dramatic single or double spike.
Blue Mystique thrives in low to medium light and comes in a 5" pot.
Silver Vase debuted Blue Mystique at the Tropical Plant Industry Exhibition (TPIE) in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, January 19-21. Orders are being taken now.

  1. "Exclusive process" = dye job. Have seen these in my local supermarket this week, and the dye does not do a good job of making it to the blooms. It's a washed-out blue-veiny look on a white Phal, and the subsequent buds that open are almost white with very little blue tint.

Oh, by the way, the roots do look very blue. The "patented process" does a pretty good job at that. The ones I've seen in photos from the TPIE trade show and the Silver Vase Nursery website are very blue and claim that the new buds open blue and stay as blue as the flowers on the spike when it's dyed, but sadly this is not the case.

A garish, jarring color. Not worth the cost by any means. Reminds me of those hideous airbrushed poinsettias you see in Wal-Mart at Christmas.

  2. UUUMMM I own one of those garish jarring looking orchids and I love it. The blooms open blue for me and those blooms are pretty much all blue with a spot or so of white. But they certainly aren't "washed-out blue-veiny" looking. Sorry you've had a bad experience but I love mine and would pay the price again. Vicky

The blooms open mostly blue with a spot or so of white but certainly NOT washed-out blue-veiny looking at all.

I did just purchase one of the blue mystiques for the fun of it and the color is really rich without any issues of dyed roots. They are only blue the first flowering. After that they are white.

mine are amazingly blue like the pictures. I have so many friends jealous of how great they look, The color is why we got them and now I'm hooked on them, my new favorite flower!!

Regardless of the quality of the dye job, it is still a dye job of some sort. Referring to these as "blue orchids" and pretending that they are a "variety" of orchid, or an advance in orchid breeding, seems misleading. Blossoms on later flower spikes will be white, so these are "white orchids coloured blue."
